Dr. Melissa Mustillo, DABVP

Dr. Melissa Mustillo|A Cat Clinic, Germantown, MD

Dr. Mustillo grew up in Buffalo, New York. She completed her undergraduate studies at Canisius College in NY, and received her DVM from The University of Tennessee. Following graduation, she moved to Maryland and joined the staff of Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg to complete the hospital’s intense one year internship program in medicine and surgery.

Dr. Mustillo always knew her true passion was feline medicine. She joined the team at A Cat Clinic following her internship. Dr. Mustillo has a strong interest in ultrasonography, dental health, and geriatric medicine. In 2020, Dr. Mustillo completed the rigorous requirements to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, certified in Feline Practice.  She is one of only 70 board-certified feline specialists in the U.S., and is a member of multiple local and national veterinary and feline organizations.

Dr. Mustillo shares her home with five cats (JoJo, Lilly, Chief, Danny, and Sherman), one dog (Elliot) and her husband. In her spare time, Dr. Mustillo enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling back to WNY to visit her family.


Dr. Nikhita De Bernardis

A Cat Clinic welcomes Dr. Nikhita De Bernardis

Dr. De Bernardis grew up in the area and went to Wootton High School in Rockville, MD. She then attended Cornell University for her B.S. where she majored in Animal Science and Biology and minored in Spanish. She studied abroad for a year in Argentina, and took several trips around the world to volunteer and help animals in need. She stayed at Cornell University for veterinary school and then completed a rigorous one-year internship at the University of Georgia. She worked at Cornell for an additional year before joining the A Cat Clinic team. She became certified in veterinary acupuncture at the Chi Institute in Florida in 2018 and has enjoyed bringing this to the practice and seeing how it can improve the quality of life of our patients.

Dr. De Bernardis has always loved feline medicine, and is especially interested in feline friendly handling techniques and cat behavior, neonatal care, and internal medicine.

In her free time, Dr. De Bernardis enjoys traveling, spending time with her horse, and indoor cycling. Dr. De Bernardis and her husband live with their four cats – Sherlock Holmes, John Watson (pictured), Maxwell’s Equations, and Napoleon Bonaparte, who was an orphaned neonatal kitten raised by the clinic
