Dr. Dale Rubenstein
Dr. Rubenstein opened the doors of A Cat Clinic, the first all-feline veterinary practice in Montgomery County, in 1986. A Montgomery County native (and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School graduate), Dr. Rubenstein earned her BA in Biology from Oberlin College and her DVM from Purdue University. She is one of only 80 board-certified feline specialists in the U.S., and is a member of multiple local and national veterinary and feline organizations.
In addition to participating in Career Days at local schools, A Cat Clinic has been mentoring interns from Northwest and Seneca Valley High Schools since 2009. Dr. Rubenstein and A Cat Clinic also started the Aurora’s Angels Fund to help support cats in the Germantown/Boyds area with needed veterinary care.
Senior cat care is Dr. Rubenstein’s special interest, but she can never resist new kittens! She has two grown children living in Chicago, and she and her husband enjoy hiking and travel. She currently has one cat at home, Athena.
Dr. Melissa Mustillo
Dr. Mustillo grew up in Buffalo, New York. She completed her undergraduate studies at Canisius College in NY, and received her DVM from The University of Tennessee. Following graduation, she moved to Maryland and joined the staff of Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg to complete the hospital’s intense one year internship program in medicine and surgery. After her internship, she stayed on staff working with their Imaging department performing anesthesia for CT/MRI scans.
Dr. Mustillo always knew her true passion was feline medicine. She joined the team at A Cat Clinic following her internship. Dr. Mustillo has a strong interest in ultrasonography and dental health.
Dr. Mustillo shares her home with 5 cats (JoJo, Tater, Miss Lilly, and two “new” senior kitties Sonny and Sinbad), 1 dog (Logan), and her husband. In her spare time, Dr. Mustillo volunteers for a feline rescue group, The Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.
Dr. Nikhita De Bernardis
Dr. De Bernardis learned of A Cat Clinic from her parents, who are clients and proud kitty parents. After she graduated from Wootton High School in Rockville,MD, Dr. De Bernardis attended Cornell University for college and veterinary school. She completed an internship at the University of Georgia, then spent another year at Cornell while her husband completed his post-doctoral work in physics.
Having always loved feline medicine, Dr. De Bernardis is especially interested in behavioral issues. She is certified in veterinary acupuncture, and is excited to offer this technique to our patients.
In her free time, Dr. De Bernardis enjoys writing and traveling. She recently moved back to Maryland in 2017 with her husband and their three cats – Sherlock Holmes, John Watson (pictured), and Maxwell’s Equations. She enjoys getting involved in the community to promote feline care.
