Dr. Melissa Mustillo, DABVP
Dr. Mustillo grew up in Buffalo, New York. She completed her undergraduate studies at Canisius College in NY, and received her DVM from The University of Tennessee. Following graduation, she moved to Maryland and joined the staff of Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg to complete the hospital’s intense one year internship program in medicine and surgery.
Dr. Mustillo always knew her true passion was feline medicine. She joined the team at A Cat Clinic following her internship. Dr. Mustillo has a strong interest in ultrasonography, dental health, and geriatric medicine. In 2020, Dr. Mustillo completed the rigorous requirements to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, certified in Feline Practice. She is one of only 70 board-certified feline specialists in the U.S., and is a member of multiple local and national veterinary and feline organizations.
Dr. Mustillo shares her home with 5 cats (JoJo, Lilly, Beeper, Danny, and Sherman) and her husband. In her spare time, Dr. Mustillo enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling back to WNY to visit her family.
Dr. Nikhita De Bernardis
Dr. De Bernardis learned of A Cat Clinic from her parents, who are clients and proud kitty parents. After she graduated from Wootton High School in Rockville,MD, Dr. De Bernardis attended Cornell University for college and veterinary school. She completed an internship at the University of Georgia, then spent another year at Cornell while her husband completed his post-doctoral work in physics.
Having always loved feline medicine, Dr. De Bernardis is especially interested in behavioral issues. She is certified in veterinary acupuncture, and is excited to offer this technique to our patients.
In her free time, Dr. De Bernardis enjoys writing and traveling. She recently moved back to Maryland in 2017 with her husband and their three cats – Sherlock Holmes, John Watson (pictured), and Maxwell’s Equations. She enjoys getting involved in the community to promote feline care.
Dr. Kimya Davani
Formally trained in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Dr. Davani originally hails from Gaithersburg, MD. Prior to receiving her VMD, she attended Quince Orchard High School and obtained her B.S. from the University of Maryland College Park. She then completed a two year research fellowship award in diabetes at the National Institutes of Health. During this time, she shadowed Dr. Rubenstein and developed a passion for feline health.
Dr. Davani spent almost a decade gaining experience in small animal and shelter medicine in the Philly suburbs. In 2019, Dr. Davani and her husband realized how much they missed their home state, and with their first-born son on the way, they moved back to MD to be closer to friends, family, and work with felines exclusively.
Dr. Davani enjoys outdoor activities with her family, board games, volunteering with rescues, and a classic Philly cheesesteak. Their son’s furry siblings include an orange tabby (Butternut aka Butters) and a grey fluffy domestic shorthair (Haze).
